I recently (18 June) had the most frustrating and disappointing car rental experience with Hertz, and I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this company. I booked an electric KIA EV6 with range of 500km, but to my dismay, I was given a Toyota BZ4X with a significantly lower range of 330km. When I questioned the discrepancy, Hertz claimed there were no EV6 vehicles available and that the Toyota was a similar category. However, my frustration escalated when I spotted an EV6 parked just two spots away from the Toyota BZ4X!To make matters worse, the Toyota I received was dirty and unkempt (see attached pictures). When I asked for it to be cleaned, I was told that it would take an additional hour and was offered no compensation for the inconvenience.On the third day of my rental, I encountered a problem with the charging cable, which got stuck. I immediately requested roadside assistance and was informed that it would take 60 minutes to arrive. After waiting for 45 minutes, the cable miraculously released, and I decided to cancel the assistance. Little did I know that two weeks later receive a shocking bill of 300CHF for the canceled service, which I was never informed of during the initial assistance request or cancellation call. Why would I have canceled if I knew I'd be charged anyway?It is evident that these issues could have been avoided if Hertz had provided the clean EV6 I originally booked from day one. The fact that they handed the EV6 to another customer, right in front of me, shortly after I was denied it, makes me feel like Hertz took advantage of me as an Asian customer.I am incredibly disappointed with Hertz's lack of transparency and their failure to deliver what was promised. The overall experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and I will never consider renting from them again.In conclusion, I urge fellow consumers to steer clear of Hertz for their car rental needs. Their practices and subpar service are simply not worth the hassle and frustration. Look elsewhere for a more reputable and customer-friendly car rental provider.The Green company is much better and I have rented from the Zurich Airport branch twice

Ich werde nie wieder ein Auto bei Hertz buchen! Nach der Abgabe des Fahrzeugs wurde mir ein angeblicher Schaden ganz unten an der Stoßstange angehängt, der nicht von mir stammte. Kostenpunkt: 550 CHF. Bei erneuter Prüfung der Übergabedokumente VOR der Miete, kann man (wenn auch leider unscharf), bereits einen Schaden sehen. Somit bestand der Schaden bereits vorher. Dies habe ich dem Kundenservice im Nachgang ebenfalls mitgeteilt, jedoch klar ersichtlich, dass sich niemand den Fall konkret angeschaut hat und die Bilder en Detail geprüft hat, denn der Fall wurde einfach abgelehnt und ich soll für die Kosten aufkommen. Anbei gerne zur Orientierung ein Bild VOR Mietbeginn, auf dem man bereits den Schaden leicht sehen kann. Zusätzlich ein Bild von der Schadensaufnahme NACH Abgabe des Fahrzeugs. - Kommentar: Die hier von Hertz kommentierte Kontaktaufnahme durch deren Kundensupport erfolgte nicht.

I thought that nothing could be worse than enterprise car rental, but hertz surpassed them. I came specifically to the airport, pre-purchased insurance on the site. An employee of Hertz is a young pregnant girl, with no experience, she doesn’t know how to explain anything correctly, she only knows thank you sir, thank you sir, thank you sir. She started demanding a credit card from me as a debit card doesn't work. It turned out that debit is suitable if you buy full insurance, much more expensive than the one I bought on the site, but my purchased insurance does not fit, because they do not see the reservation number in it. When I agreed to everything, it turned out that they do not accept Revolut cards, according to company policy. The girl advised me next time to read the rules of the company, which are similar to Tolstoy's novel War and Peace. If everyone read the company rules, the world would stop. This looks like a mockery. Never in my life, it's a complete failure. Look how many negative reviews.

Had a brilliant experience with Hertz in late July, with a speedy pick up process, and an even better drop off experience.It was a pleasure to hand over the vehicle to David, he was efficient and sped us through the process and helped us make our flight. Very professional, friendly and polite.Hertz were also very helpful in returning a portable charger that I had left. They really went above and beyond and I appreciate their effort.

Avoid at all costs.It was reassuring to read the terrible reviews about Hertz Zurich airport, although I wish I had read them before. The experience I had with them flirts with dishonesty, perhaps a scam. Upon renting they ask you to inspect the car in a crammed, dark parking lot where it is impossible to walk next to your car, and even harder to see anything. Then, upon return, they inspect your car with a magnifier and charge you for anything they find. In my case, it was a tiny scratch on a wheel hub. When I protested that I most definitely was not responsible for it, I was simply called a liar to my face. When I told them how aggravating their approach to customer service was, they asked me to leave. I had to pay 400$ for a tiny scratch on a hub that would have been totally impossible to see in their dark parking lot, assuming it were possible to actually stand next to the car.There are many other renters at Zurich airport: Any one has to be better than this group of rude people.If anyone at Hertz bothers to read this message, refund me my money.Addendum: Hertz replied to this review here below, mostly for show. While it looks as if their customer service is responsive, they simply reiterated the same argument again. Nothing changed, I am still 500$ (yes, it's 500$ now that fees were added) down for a rental that cost me 400. To repeat: Do not go there. There are plenty of other better options in Zurich.

Nach der Rückgabe des gemieteten Fahrzeuges, habe ich eine Rechnung über 260.-, für einen Mikro-Schaden gekriegt, welcher unmöglich von mir stammen konnte und so klein war, dass er ohne: „ich suche jetzt etwas, was ich dem Mieter anhängen kann“ niemals aufgefallen wäre.Wäre ich Aktionär der Firma Hertz, würde ich mich dafür einsetzen, dass der Zürcher Ableger am Flughafen, auf Grund von rufschädigender Betriebsführung, mit sofortiger Wirkung geschlossen wird.

The Excelent Service and Personal Attention this team gives to their customers day in day out is truly amazing, always welcome you with a smile and looking for the best solution if changes need to be made. Fully enjoy the holiday with Hertz. Pick up an almost new Ford Focus from Zurich downtown, drive 450km in three days and return at the airport with full tank. No complaint, no issue, friendly and helpful staff.

My recommendation up front: better go for sixt, europcar or any other car rental you can find (there are plenty). I am really disappointed. They guarantee that the car has no damage but the car is damaged. Better check check the whole car really well because they will charge you, even if you did not cause the damage. Upon receiving the car I found a stone impact on the windshield which was unnoticed by them so I let them document it. But I did not see the scratch on the rear bumper for which they charged me now. I trusted their condition report of the car. It is a joke that they give out the car and say they have checked it! Employees are no big help either. This company definitely has lost my trust.@Hertz: well thanks for your quick reply but let us keep this public. Everybody should know how well you handle those issues. My experience with Hertz at Zurich has by far been the worst experience I've ever had at a car rental company. I booked a small compact car for $272 back for a week in May 2023. When I booked the car, I did take few pictures of the car but not in great detail of the wheels. The car looked fine overall and we didn't spot any scratches or dents in the vehicle. We returned the car after a week and had absolutely 0 accidents or close encounters.When the Hertz inspection officer looked at the vehicle, he said that there has been damage to the front right wheel and we are responsible for this damage. He said that we need pay 80 CHF for the wheel damage and an additional 90 CHF as an Admin fee. We were taken aback by this since we did absolutely no wrong. Can you even spot the damage to the wheel in the picture? Is this worth 170 CHF? In spite of being a Hertz President's circle member, this is the treatment that we get? Is this how you treat tourists from the US in Switzerland?Our memorable trip has been overshadowed due to this wrinkle. We paid $272 for the car and ended up paying $200 of this damage. For what? Doing nothing wrong.If Hertz as a company is reading this review, then please refund me my money.
