Café & Conditorei 1842
Perhaps one of the cutest cafés in Zurich. I love coming here to try all the delicious pastries, cakes and cookies they have. The old fashioned vibe also makes the place feel homey and romantic.I wouldn't recommend the savory dishes though. Beef tartar is incredibly pasty and bland. The club sandwich was rather disappointing too and the coleslaw tasted odd.Apple Strudel with whipped cream is a must try!

Immer wenn ich in Zürich bin, gehe ich hier hin. Bekannt ist das Café für seine heisse Schokolade, und das zu recht! Die beste Schokolade, die ich getrunken habe in einem sehr schön gestalteten Café, wo man gemütlich sitzen kann. Es wird einem in der Theke vorne auch eine große Auswahl an süßen Törtchen und Süßspeisen geboten. Ein Muss, wenn man in Zürich ist!

Pretty interiors and decorations but that was pretty much it. The service was slow and in general, very poor. The croissants were decent, and the iced coffees were normal, nothing special about that.Went on a Monday thinking it wouldn’t be so crowded but it was packed and you couldn’t fully enjoy the vibe of the place and it just wasn’t anything special.Had big expectations for the place, seeing it mentioned in a lot of instagram pages as a must cafè in Zürich.My personal opinion is that I wouldn’t return again and it wasn’t really worth it.

Nice cute little pastry shop. Pistacchio pie and affogato coffee were really good. Service was kind but could be a bit more attentive to the customers. Pastry order could not be taken at the table, nor could the payment, had to be done at the counter for some reason.

Ordered a hot chocolate and a cold one. Read tons of good reviews for the hot chocolate but it was too milky and not chocolate-y enough for my liking.Ambience was comfortable though, a nice place to rest and have tea after a day of shopping.

Wir wurden von einen sehr netten Mitarbeiter in den ersten Stock gebeten. Das Ambiente dort ist gepflegt und beeindruckend. Wir bestellten heiße Schokolade. Dazu gab es Schoko Cheesecake in heißen Apfelstrudel mit Vanilleeis. Alles hat uns hervorragend gemundet. Ein ausgezeichnetes Preis / Leistungsverhältnis. Besonderer Dank gebührt dem Kollegen der heute im ersten Stock Dienst hatte. Zuvorkommend, freundlich und flink.

Tasty hot chocolate, beautiful interior decor. I really want to come back to try the beautiful (and I hope tasty) pastries. Lots of chocolate treats, not sure if it's because it was a few days before Easter, but I'll find out next time.

The service was non-existent, the staff had an unpleasant attitude, the hot chocolate got cold while we waited and eventually had to source the cake we ordered ourselves. The cake was dry and well-past its sell-by date. A truly awful cafe and experience. The guy at the counter agreed that the service his establishment provided was dreadful, but he charged us the ‘ridiculously high price’ nonetheless. If you want a sweet memory of Zurich, AVOID this place!!!
