Männedorf is a wonderful bucolic 4.8 sq km village by the Zürichsee lower eastern Goldküste (=Goldcoast) in the district of upscale Meilen; Benefiting from evening sun, the south-western slopes of the Pfannenstiel mountain allows the presence of idyllic vineyards; Männedorf coats of arms features an upright otter on a golden background; Served by two 25min journey S7 trains per hour in both directions Zürich and Rapperswil it is also offering regular ship services once every hour to Wädenswil, on the opposite shore of the lake run by the Zürichsee-Schifffahrtsgesellschaft (ZSG); Notable sightseeings: 1836 Villa Liebegg, a beautiful neoclassical style Music School and cultural heart of the village; 1890s Neo-Gothic St. Stephan Church, oldest Catholic parish on the right coast of Zürichsee w/ a magnificent octagonal tower; Reformierte Kirche w/ a splendid Belvedere terrace. Companies based here include amongst others the Swarovski Switzerland HQ, Tecan AG and Ernst Grob AG. Männedorf Chilbi (=fair) is held on the 2nd half of July every year featuring 3 days of temporary Luna Parks attractions for kids and adults as well as concerts, sport activities and food booths; FC Männedorf is the local football team, as of 2019 season playing in the 2. Liga, the sixth tier of the Swiss football league system;

Fantastic customer service by Jonas in the SBB travel center at this station. I’m new to Switzerland and have recently moved to live in Maennedorf. He explained all the cost options for my daily commute, helped me to arrange access to the Swiss pass, assisted me to download and set up the app on my phone and explained everything very clearly all in great English too!
