Hotel St. Gotthard

The location is very convenient but that's about it. The rooms are a bit dated, and our room was not ready even though it was over 30 minutes past the check-in time. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a regular occurrence. Considering the number of hotels in the area, I would recommend bypassing this one. It's not worth the hassle, and there are nicer options in the area.

I stayed at the hotel Aug 06 - Aug 10 and I must give compliments to the staff.In particular:Dante (Front Desk)I tend to wake early and Dante was working the night shift for 2 evenings. He was very helpful planning excursions even at 0300. He was friendly, helpful and we chatted about Switzerland in detail.Tripti (Front Desk)Tripti was very professional and helpful during check-in. She smiled and greeted us like we were family.Norbert (Cafe)Norbert was a true professional and provided service with a smile. He was very quick with orders and attentive.Location is awesome. 1 minute walk to Zürich HB (lots of shopping and trains everywhere) and a coffee/pastry shop across the street. The trams stops outside the hotel and goes everywhere. The city is also very safe.I would recommend your hotel to anyone going to Zürich, 5 STARS!

The positives: great location, close to train station, shopping and restaurants. The staff is very polite and professional. The negatives: check in is at 1500 but our room wasn’t ready until close to 1700. Rooms are updated but carpet appeared dirty and not vacuumed. AC kept the room from being too hot but not cool.In my opinion, good for one night and not an extended stay.

Great location near train station in Zurich. Somewhat chaotic check-in. Empty soap in shower. Disconcerting stain on headboard of bed. Unusual noise emanating from bathroom every few minutes. Later check-out time helpful. Working refrigerator. Plentiful cubby space.

Going beyond your locational advantage, St. Gotthard needs to do more to achieve customer satisfaction. Start with communication. English is a must for foreign guests. this was a problem. Staff training is next. Well intentioned bur not adequately trained staff is an issue too Modern cutlery needs to replace old & heavy ones. Breakfast needs few more warm dishes. it was too monotonous.I have stayed here several times in pre covid days, that charm needs to be brought back.

The location is right at the corner of the main road and easy to get there. The service was nice and kind. The rooms are very cooling and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom is nice but the floor and the wall tiles matched a little.Overall is is a good place to stay at.

It was a pleasant stay. Spacious rooms as we took 2 connecting rooms. Reception staff was impolite, no sense of service except the one who checked us in. We didn’t get a chance to eat there so no review on that. So close to the main train station and trams, restaurants and cafes, just nice to make it easy

We had an enjoyable stay at the Hotel St. Gotthard. The location is ideal as it is a very short walk to the central train station, which makes day trips to nearby cities and other parts of Switzerland very easy. Centrally located in the shopping district and a quick walk over the bridge to Old Town, even walking to the lake isn't too difficult. No issues with any of the accommodations. The check-in process was quite slow.

Ideales Hotel für Geschäfts- und Alleinreisende. Freundliches Personal, gute Atmosphäre, allerbeste Lage. Wünsche werden erfüllt - ein wenig Geduld ist manchmal vonnöten - ansonsten hätte ich insgesamt durchgehend 5 Sterne vergeben. Auch bei meinem nächsten Aufenthalt werde ich wieder das Hotel St. Gotthard wählen - empfehlenswert!

Also, both parties in the exact same rooms next to us had slippers and robes, this again highlights the inconsistency in messaging across your hotel and staff. However, the response we received at the front desk regarding the room's readiness was rather abrupt and unaccommodating, despite witnessing other guests being checked in early.Upon entering the room, we were disappointed to find it in an unsatisfactory state. Children's handprints on the balcony doors, litter on the floor, and an unpleasant smell were some of the issues we encountered. The shower leaked, causing water to spill onto the bathroom floor and into the lounge carpet. To add to our frustrations, the hairdryer provided was not functional, and the response from the staff was far from courteous.While we were exploring the hotel, we noticed other guests being offered assistance, information packets, and amenities like robes and slippers. We, unfortunately, didn't receive the same level of service and were left feeling overlooked.The matter escalated when we requested a room change due to the poor condition of our initial room. The initial denial of our request, even when evidence showed availability, was disheartening. We eventually moved to a room with two single beds instead of the double bed we had expected.
