Edelweissweg Höhbalmen

Totally worth going. you will see the north face of Matterhorn is its full power. Magnificiernt and unforgotable path. Aster ca. 10km of walk upwards you can eighter turn left towards the Bridges where you can fellow the Pathfinder back along the stream or you can go up to Schwarzsee. pleas consider also going on up to the Schoebielhuette at altitude 2694 above sea level. from Schoenbielhutte mu must go back the same way. Great experience in Zermatt

Amazing hike. Mid June there was no more snow.

Visited Zermatt for a long weekend and spent good part of a day hiking from Zermatt through Zmuttgletscher and on to near the base of the Matterhorn. Some magnificent views of the iconic Matterhorn along the way. Bring some water, but there are also several opportunities for some fresh ice melt or spring water. Once past Zmuttgletscher the trail is mostly flat (periodic slight grade). Further you go better the views. Even with some snow at higher elevations not much of a problem hiking through. One of my favorite hikes in Europe.

Der schönste Höhenweg bei Zermatt. Zum Glück ohne Seilbahn und Massentourismus. Der Blick auf die majestätischen 4000'der ist atemberaubend, muss sich aber durch viele Höhenmeter verdient werden: bei 1200 HM und über 7 Std. Gehzeit hat man etwas zu tun". Der Weg läßt sich nach Westen zur Schönbielhütte verlängern

An absolut must for hikers visiting Zermatt.Not difficult but strenuous. Pack a lunch, water, and extra cloths.We hiked up via Edelweiss and Trift all the way to the back and returned via Zmutt. Definitely an all day hike. The views are absolutely fantastic.

A l'écart du monde

I think this has to be my favourite spot in Zermatt. The approach with the Matterhorn suddenly getting into sight and then the view of more 4,000+ metre peaks one can count with a perfectly placed bench for a picnic at the top just did it for me. It is a bit of a hike with the 1,100 metre ascent but it is well worth it.
